CPSO To Host Annual Senior Citizen’s Fishing Rodeo In May
Are you a senior or do you know a senior who loves the outdoors? More importantly, do they like to fish, meet new people, and need to get out of the house for a day of fun?
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is once again holding a great event aimed at getting seniors together for a fun day of fishing. It makes sense since Southwest Louisiana is known as a sportsman's paradise.

What better way to get seniors together to meet new people than to hold a fishing derby so our seniors can have some fun catching some fish, too? The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has announced that it will be holding its annual Senior Citizens’ Fishing Rodeo on May 1st, 2025.
Kayla Vincent with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office said,
Sheriff Stitch Guillory and the CPSO Elderly Services Division will host the Annual Senior Citizens’ Fishing Rodeo on Thursday, May 1, from 7:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the CPSO Farm Pond behind the Calcasieu Correctional Center at 5400 E. Broad Street in Lake Charles.
Participants are asked to bring their own chairs, fans, and fishing gear (only one pole per person, please). CPSO will provide help in baiting the lines, removing fish from the hook, if requested, and bait for catching fish. --Kayla Vincent CPSO
The CPSO will provide refreshments, and all senior citizens 55 years of age and older in the parish are invited at no charge. If you have any questions or want more information, call the Sheriff's office at 540-2346.
