The Lake Charles Chapter of the Cajun French Music Association (CFMA) will be holding its annual Cajun Food and Music Festival in Lake Charles and it will take place at the Burton Coliseum in South Lake Charles this weekend.

The CFMA festival has been held for four decades now starting in the mid-1980s. The festival features live music, great Cajun food, arts & crafts, silent auctions, accordion contests, dance contests, and a huge dance floor.

Get ready to waltz or two-step your way around the huge dance floor under the roof of the air-conditioned Burton Coliseum to some great traditional Cajun music. The festival is a one-day festival and will take place this Saturday, July 20th, 2024.

The festival gets underway at 9:00 am and runs through 10:00 pm that day. Starting at 9:00 am that day, an Accordion Contest featuring a youth division which is ages 11 and younger, a teen division ages 12-17, and adult divisions ages 18 and up.

The youth and teen division's first-place prize is $250 while the adult division will pay $500 for first place. 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes will also be awarded in each division.

  • 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm -- Chris Miller & Bayou Roots
  • 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm -- John Dale Hebert & Friends
  • 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm -- Ray Thibodeaux & Cajun Friends featuring Jason Frey on the accordion
  • 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm -- Kevin Naquin & Cajun Preservation
