How Much Would COVID Stimulus Checks Be For Louisiana Families?
The Federal Government has been discussing the idea of sending "stimulus" checks to US citizens to help during the nationwide outbreak of COVID-19, or it's commonly known, coronavirus.
NBC News has gained some insight into what these checks could look like. According to their report, here's what you could see:
- Earnings would be based on 2018 tax filings
- Individuals who make less than $75,000 a year would qualify for $1,200
- Married couples who file jointly, who make less than $150,000 would qualify for $2,400
- Individuals and couples with children would qualify for an additional $500 for each child
- For individuals and couples who make over those numbers would have their checks reduced by $5 for every $100 earned earned over those numbers ($75k or $150k)
- Payments would not be available for individuals who make more than $99,000 a year
- Payments would not be available for couples who make more than $198,000 a year
- Checks would be reduced by $600 for individuals with little incomes tax liability, but at least $2,500 in qualifying income. That number is $1,200 for married couples.
This is all based on the current form of the plan brought to the US Senate, items inside may change. These details have not been finalized, and no date has been set for checks to be mailed.
