Cajun and Swamp pop star Don Rich is celebrating his birthday today. Don, who turns 59 today, has been giving us great Cajun and Swamp Pop music for years now.

From Don's website:

I’m a self-taught singer/musician/songwriter. I have been playing music now for 45 plus years and I really enjoy it. I perform 4 & 5 nights a week. I had the privilege of being the opening act for Louisiana’s own Eddie Raven, Freddie Fender, Joe Stamply, Percy Sledge, Wayne Toups & Jo-el Sonnier. I am the fifth generation in my family to play music. I play seven instruments: The keyboard, fiddle, saxophone, guitar, drums, bass &the accordion. I was influenced by such great artist as my dad, Golen Richard, who passed away in 1965, Otis Redding, Wilson Picket, Otis Scott, Merle Haggard & George Jones. My Goal in life is to make it in the music industry, like any true musician and stay in good health.

My Hobbies, well, anything to do with music, I also enjoy crawfishing, squirrel hunting and a little fishing.

I was inducted in the Louisiana Hall of Fame along with my dad the late Golen Richard on June 12th 2005. I was also inducted in the West Bank Musicians hall of fame in 2006

I have recorded 10 CD’s and I am very proud of them. We’ll start with the first one I recorded back in 1994

Happy Birthday Don from all your fans and from Cajun Radio! Thanks for the memories and great music!
