Gov. Edwards Declares Louisiana In A Public Health Emergency
With the coronavirus (COVID-19) cases jumping from six to thirteen in one day, Governor Edwards signed an order to declare Louisiana in a public health emergency.
As we reported yesterday, the state is testing 43 patients for COVID-19, so the number could rise again later today as these other tests are confirmed.
With declaring the state in a public health emergency, it allows Louisiana to receive federal funding to help fight the virus and it allows the state to give monetary support to local governments for prevention measures and treatment. The CDC has confirmed they will be giving Louisiana $7,805,064.60 to help fight coronavirus.
