Breaux Bridge native and former Cajun music star Hunter Hayes was featured on a national stage last night at the Academy of Country Music awards (ACM's).

The 20 year old Hunter was up for the "ACM New Artists of the Year" award last night against American Idol alum Scotty McCreery and Brantley Gilbert.

Did he win?

Unfortunately, Hunter came up short winning the fan voted award who went to Scotty McCreery.

Even though Hunter didn't win the award he was able to  perform his hit song "Storm Warning" on the show live to a national TV audience.

Hunter started playing music at a young age.  I remember back around 1997-1998 I would play the song "SIX Years Old" which was a big regional hit!  Hunter played the Cajun accordion at the time. Here is a little snip it  of the song:

Since then though, Hunter Hayes has mastered a few more instruments I would say.  On Hunter's debut CD "Storm Warning", he played every instrument on the record.  Count them 30 instruments in all!  WOW.

Well congrats to Hunter Hayes on all his success and even though he didn't win the award last night, he is a winner to me and I am proud to say that I played some of his earlier music before he became famous and hit the national Country music scene!
