As we are keeping all eyes on hopefully the disarray of Marco and TS Laura as that storm is still picking up steam and seems to be headed our way, we want to make sure you are in the know about what's going on the with the latest updates. However, there are many businesses who are taking precautions not only for themselves, but all their customers or clients, as well.

As the city of Lake Charles continues to monitor Tropical Storm Laura, all city facilities including City Hall, Historic City Hall, Central School and Public Works Administrations buildings will be closed today and Wednesday, August 26. All of the city recreation facilities, the Lake Charles Civic Center, and I-10 North Beach remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Trash and garbage routes will run as usual today. However, the recycling centers and the Roving Green Recycling Truck will not operate as usual today or tomorrow. City Transit services will also suspend their services today and tomorrow.

The City Council Agenda Meeting and public hearing regarding the fiscal year 2020-2021 budget for the city of Lake Charles that was due to take place today has been canceled. The public hearing will take place on Wednesday, September 2 at 5:30pm in the City Council Chambers in conjunction with the regularly scheduled meeting of the council.

City residents are highly encouraged to bring your trashcans back in and secure them after they are emptied. It is also very wise to pick up loose items including trash, cans, or any items that could cause damage if thrown due to the hard wins or rain.
