Beware of New Scam That Targets Your Smartphone
Hackers have stepped their game up with a new scam that targets your smartphone. Don't become a victim of “smishing,’ in what USAToday describes as when “criminals send out fraudulent text messages that look official.”
There’s currently a mystery shopping scam going around where the hacker sends a text message to you that tricks you into giving up your email and other valuable information. Please, don’t be that person.
The best thing to do when you get a text message from an unknown number is think twice before responding. Your response can be the difference between having your identity stolen or having your bank accounts high-jacked. Don’t give away personal or confidential information, period.
Shout out to our in house engineer as well for giving us a heads up! He makes sure we don’t fall victim to scams very regularly. Thanks Alan!
