Authorities continue the search for a 19-year old male that went missing while swimming at the I-10 Beach late Saturday afternoon.

The Lake Charles Police Department got the call for help around 5 p.m. on Saturday. According to authorities, the 19-year-old male was last seen swimming out near the buoys with an adult female.

Officials said the two people were holding onto a raft when the 19 year-old slipped and went under water. The female was transported to a local hospital and released.

Lake Charles Police, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Wildlife and Fisheries and the U.S. Coast Guard searched through into the night for the missing male. The Coast Guard used one of their helicopters to search from above while it was still daylight.

"There's a grid pattern that we use to search," said Sgt. Mark Kraus with the Lake Charles Police Department. "The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is doing what we call dragging to hopefully to recover the body."

While agencies searched for the missing person, witnesses on the beach sat in shock on Saturday afternoon.

"I feel terrible, just knowing that I was a few feet away from the person who went missing," said Keys.

At this point authorities aren't releasing a name until they recover a body and notify next of kin.

As of Midnight the authorities have called off the search, but it will resume at 6am this morning!!
