Speaking of which, fresh off a trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Choir Foundation Board member, and Choir Director at F.K White Middle Allison Marino, stressed the importance of the arts and the benefits of music education. Speaking to KPLC at Voix Choir practice, Marino said,
“We’re so fortunate in this area, that so many places that we do put an importance of music education in our schools and what the research shows us is that music is the only thing that uses every part of our brain. Students who play an instrument or sing, score higher on standardized testing, so it is not just something, it should be a part of every child’s life.”
Several kids from the Lake Charles area just returned from the elite singing competition in Pittsburgh, and currently are preparing for their annual spring concert. Marino said, the children make lifetime connections through music and are extremely happy that they are able to sing together once again.
