I wonder what grade the ACT people would get on the English portion of their own test.

I was logged onto their website's FAQ page. Near the bottom, I noticed glaring grammatical and spelling errors.

Most of us (myself included) are far from perfect when it comes to writing properly. Is it unrealistic to hold such companies to a higher standard? These are the people who, to a large degree, help determine the academic fate of our students.

I'll let you decide.

Every time I use this word in the verb or noun form, I am confused. That's why I use dictionary.com. If you type it into the search bar on dictionary.com the way it is spelled in the header, the site will ask, "Did you mean accommodation?" I'm sure that's what they meant every time they spelled it incorrectly.

Talk about a loaded header! Notice, though, the lines below it and think back to what you probably learned in lower elementary school.

    'I' before 'e,' except after 'c,'

    or when counted as 'a,'

    as in 'neighbor' or 'weigh.'

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. We are, after all, talking about the English language. One must only refer to the two words mentioned in association with the previous picture, and the problem is solved.
