Everyone knows walking is one of the easiest ways to get in shape.  It gets the blood pumping to all the right places, it's great cardio and it's low impact so everybody can do it.  This Spring Mayor Randy Roach, the City of Lake Charles, and CHRISTUS St. Patrick’s Hospital, wants to encourage area residents to lead a healthy lifestyle by exercising.  Saturday April 8, 2017, SWLA citizens are invited to join the mayor for "Walk Your Way To Wellness," on the lakefront.

This is a free event designed to get area residents off the couch, and encourage everyone to become more active.  If you'd like to participate, click here, to register.  You may also register the day of, in front of the Civic Center Amphitheater, beginning at 8 a.m.  Registration forms will be available at the Sheriff’s office tent.  MSU and Sowela Tech nursing students will be on hand giving free blood pressure screenings as well.

The "Walk Your Way To Wellness," warm-up and welcome will get underway at 8:30 a.m., and the walk will start next the marina at 9:00 a.m.  Be among the first 200 people to arrive, and get a free pedometer from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana.  There will also be drawings for a variety of door prizes throughout the event.  To beat the heat, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital will be on hand giving away bottled water to all walkers and attendees.
