On Thursday, May 12, there will be a temporary closure at the railroad crossing located alongside Railroad Avenue & Kirkman Street, to allow contractors to replace rails at each intersection, said a City of Lake Charles press release.

The railroad crossings located on Kirkman Street (between N. Railroad Avenue and S. Railroad Avenue) and on Ryan Street (just north of S. Railroad Avenue) will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Motorists are encouraged to look out for posted detour signs. Suggested route options are set below.

Southbound detour: Drive east on Jackson Street to N. Bank Street, then north to Bauer Street, then east to Enterprise Boulevard.

Northbound detour: Drive east on Belden Street to Enterprise Boulevard, then north to Bauer Street, then west to N. Bank Street, then south to Jackson Street.
