Former Calcasieu Parish Tax Assessor Richard Cole will walk away with three years of active supervised probation after he was sentenced on charges of malfeasance in office today, according to a press release from the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has announced that the 101 st training academy class will graduate on Wednesday. Wow 101 classes. A lot of people didn't know but I was a Sheriff's Deputy for ten years and I graduated from the Police academy in 1997.  I am a proud graduate of the 61 st basic training academy. Of course, I love what i do now upholding the Cajun  culture, music and heritage but

In an attempt to help make drivers and passengers safe in Southwest Louisiana, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will be conducting a DWI checkpoint this weekend at an undisclosed location. The Sheriff's office released this explaining what they are doing this weekend.

Today is election day with some very important elections taking place.  The race for Louisiana's Governor, Lt. Governor plus local elections are going on as well. The polls are now open so make sure you get out there and exercise your right to vote!

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office have re-arrested three inmates who are currently serving sentences for other crimes in the prison for attempted 2nd degree murder in connection to an inmate that was severely beaten by the 3 suspects. This Sunday is the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the Unites States in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is encouraging residents to observe a minute of silence for all of those who lost there lives on that day.

As a precaution, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has issued a state of emergency declaration just in case Tropical Storm Lee heads this way. According to the jury, the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will remain active in monitoring the weather system and address any safety issues as they develop.
