In an effort to keep the roadways and us safe, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) will be conducting a Seat Belt and Sobriety check point this Thursday night.

Sgt. James Anderson with the LSP said,

In an effort to increase seat belt usage and combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop D plans to conduct a seat belt compliance and DWI checkpoint.

Our mission will be to ticket vehicle occupants who are not properly restrained or choose not to properly restrain children in the vehicle as well as to remove impaired drivers from the highway before they cause injury or death to themselves or others.

The checkpoint will take place in an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish.  The checkpoint will be from 9pm to 3am.

Make sure to designate a driver and buckle up.
