The New Orleans Saints got their head coach Sean Payton back a week before the Superbowl and immediately Payton fired his defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.  Under Spagnuolo, the Saints were dead last in almost every defensive category in the NFL.

Reports are now surfacing saying that the Saints plan to hire Rob Ryan, who was the  defensive coordinator the Dallas Cowboys, as their new defensive coordinator.

ESPN.com is reporting:

The New Orleans Saints plan to hire former Dallas Cowboys assistant coach Rob Ryan as their new defensive coordinator, according to league sources.

The boisterous Ryan was fired as defensive coordinator of the Cowboys on Jan. 8, soon after owner Jerry Jones said he would make major changes to a team that finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

Rob Ryan, who's brother Rex Ryan is the Head Coach of the New York Jets, has held various coaching positions since 1987 and entered the NFL in 2000 where he has been the defensive coordinator for several teams.  Ryan has had stints with the New England Patriots, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and most recently the Dallas Cowboys until his firing on January 8th of this year.
