Residents and businesses in southwest Lake Charles near Prien Lake Road and Nelson Road might experience low water pressure until approximately noon on Thursday, November 2, due to the city's Southwest Water Treatment Plant being down. The City of Lake Charles is asking that those affected minimize water usage until further notice.

According to a media release, the Southwest Water Treatment Plant was temporarily shut down after a malfunction on Wednesday, November 1 at approximately 12:00pm. It's currently undergoing repairs to its piping system, and should be back up within 24 hours of that time as water division personnel work around the clock to make the necessary repairs.

"Water Division personnel will be updating residences and businesses with regard to reestablishing full water service."

For more information, call the Water Division’s 24-hour operator at (337) 491-1483.
