McNeese was simply beat on both sides of the ball at Sam Houston and took a 38-22 loss. LSU won 30-27 at Florida with a last second field goal.

The Bearkats marched right down the field on their first possession and put it in the end zone. The day never really turned around for the Cowboys. McNeese State Quarterback Daniel Sams rushed for 130 yards and that may not have been a good thing. Some of his runs were designed but a lot of the time he was running from pressure. The Bearkats defense put a lot of pressure on Cowboy quarterbacks and stifled the Pokes running game. McNeese could only muster 133 yards of offense in the first half. The second half was not much better for the pokes and McNeese dropped it's first conference game to a Sam Houston team who many had said was not as good this year. That judgement may have been premature. The Cowboys will look to turn this around Saturday against Abilene Christian as they celebrate Homecoming.

It was a last minute win for LSU in Florida. With the game tied at 27 the Gators had driven the ball to the LSU 45 yard line. It would seem they were putting themselves in position for a game winning field goal. That's when the LSU defense stepped up. Kwon Alexander and Rickey Jefferson collided with a receiver on a Florida pass attempt. The ball was deflected and tipped into the hands of Jefferson who ran it back 36 yards to the Florida 36 yard line. A fifty yard field goal from Colby Delahoussaye with :08 lest gave the Tigers the win. It was Les Miles 100th win as the Tigers Head Coach. The Tigers take on Kentucky in Baton Rouge this Saturday.
