The New Orleans Saints cut six year kicker Garrett Hartley yesterday after he has struggled this season.

Hartley who is a product of the Oklahoma Sonners has gone 22 for 30 on field goals this season.

Hartley's two missed field goals in a 27-16 loss at St. Louis last week which obviously turned out to be the last straw.

The team worked out five different kickers on Nov. 12 after a string of Hartley misses, but a game-winning field goal against the 49ers on Nov. 17 appeared to have reinvigorated Hartley's confidence, going 5-for-5 before St. Louis.

Sean Payton was asked Monday if he would consider making a change at kicker.

"I think we're looking closely at every element," he said. "I told the players today at the team meeting we're looking closely at each aspect of this team. I think in not trying to read into my answer, it's important for us to do that. I think that whether it's a tackle position, whether it's a player on defense, I think the one thing I know I don't want to do is repeat the process over and over again. We're going to look closely at what our options are and what gives us our best chance to play this coming week and one week remaining."
