National Hot Dog Day — What Are Your Wieners Really Made Of?

So today is national hot dog day and we were wondering what exactly are your wieners made of?

According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (yes that is a real thing) they say 20 billion hot dogs are eaten each year.  That is a lot of wieners!

With that being said, we were wondering what exactly is in those hot dogs and what they are made of?

My grandpa told me they were made of chicken beaks and pork toe nails LOL.

But according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council they are made of elected meat trimmings of beef and or pork.

Well I did a little more investigating and according to Wikipedia they say the most common ingredients of hot dogs are mechanically separated meat, pink slime, and meat slurry.  Yuck!

So how many pink slime dogs ya want me to throw on the grill for ya?
