Richard Dow, who is the voice of McNeese Men's Basketball and Baseball and the sideline reporter for football has fell ill and his friends are throwing him a Benefit Jambalaya Lunch this Friday, November 15th.

Richard Dow has come down with a serious illness that has had him hospitalized since Oct. 1.

He first went into the hospital on the afternoon of the 1st and was treated for Pancreatitis.

He ended up spending a few days in the ICU, six to be exact, before getting back to a regular room.  On Saturday, the 12th, he was released but back in the hospital again a few days later with the same symptoms.  He has since been transported to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport and is being treated for a cyst on his pancreas as well as gallbladder troubles.

Here's where you can help.  Richard and his family have no health insurance.  Folks here at McNeese have been very generous in donating to help with any expenses his family may incur but obviously, the medical bills are going to be outrageous.

Folks here have announced a benefit jambalaya lunch where 100% of the proceeds will go to Richard and his family.

McNeese booster club members and supporters as well as staff and coaches are helping out with the cooking and filling the orders.

It will be held on Nov. 15 from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Cowboy Club Room. Lunches are $7 each.  If you would, please help spread the word by passing around this flyer.

Of course many of you are out of town and will not be able to purchase a lunch, so an account has been set up at a local bank to accept donations.

And as Richard always says when signing off a broadcast, win or lose... "It's a Great Day to be a Cowboy!"

So let it be a great day and help out Richard!  Thanks
