This morning, I had the Quarterback for the McNeese Cowboys Cody Stroud in the studio.  We talked about the big win over then #2 Sam Houston last week and his outlook for the rest of the season.

Cody Stroud is a senior at McNeese and he graduated last spring.  He is playing his final year of his career this season.  Cody dawns #18 on his jersey and is from Montgomery Louisiana and went to Montgomery high school.

Cody enters his senior season at McNeese ranked 6th on the school career list with 4,697 passing yards, 6th with 31 career touchdown passes, and 7th with 4,536 total offensive yards.

The Cowboys are currently 6-1 on the season, 2-0 in Southland Conference play and are ranked #4 in the Sports Network Poll and #7 in the Coaches poll in the FCS.

First off, Cody Stroud is a very nice and personable guy.  He also struck me as a very humble guy and someone who appreciates the opportunity he received with the McNeese Cowboys football program.

Cody said in our interview that his greatest memory of playing so far is the game he played at Tiger stadium against LSU in 2010.  Cody also gave us the hint that he will be looking to go to the next level and after the season he plans to work out hard and get ready for pro day.

First he said, is the task at hand.  Leading his team to a Southland Conference title and getting the conference ring.  Then they will focus on a run at the FCS national championship.  He said that would be the pinnacle of his career.

The McNeese Cowboys will take on Nicholls State this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Good luck to Cody Stroud and the McNeese cowboys on a great rest of the 2013 season.
