McNeese women's basketball team (25-6, 15-1 SLC) has made history and broke several records this season, but nothing would top the season off more than the programs first NCAA Tournament Bid. That's what the Cowgirls are playing for tonight when they face Central Arkansas at 7:05 p.m. in the State Farm Southland Conference Tournament Championship game at the Merrell Center in Katy, Tx. The game will be televised on the Southland Network (Suddnelink-Channel 14) in Lake Charles, ESPN Full Court and ESPN3.com.

The Cowgirls advanced to the championship game and only the second in program history with its 66-50 semifinal win over UTSA Thursday afternoon. McNeese made it to the championship game in the Southland's first conference tournament in 1983.

McNeese and UCA will face each other for the third time this season with each team winning on its home court during the regular season. Central Arkansas handed McNeese its only Southland Conference loss of the season (74-73) in overtime in Conway, Arkansas on January 29. McNeese avenged that loss with a 65-59 come from behind win in Lake Charles on February 12.

Junior Kendra Wells is coming off her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds against UTSA. Wells leads the Cowgirls with 7.6 rpg. Sophomore Ashlyn Baggett leads the Cowgirls in scoring with 16.8 ppg.
