The Southland Conference announced yesterday that the McNeese Cowboys game against the Sam Houston Bearkats will be televised and the game time has been changed.

FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference announced Tuesday that the McNeese State game at Sam Houston State game scheduled for Oct. 20 has been selected to be televised by the new Comcast SportsNet Houston.

Kickoff for the Bearkats' homecoming game at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium has been moved to 7 p.m., Central, to accommodate television. The game was originally scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m.

“Part of our focus as a regional sports network is to provide the most comprehensive regional sports coverage available and with wide local alumni bases for Sam Houston State and McNeese State, we know there will be strong local interest and viewership,” said Matt Hutchings, president and general manager at Comcast SportsNet Houston.

Comcast SportsNet is a new regional sports network located in Houston and will have a five-state regional coverage area. The network is set to launch Oct. 1 and is also be the new home of the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets.

Currently, both Sam Houston and McNeese State are ranked in the polls, with the Bearkats ranked No. 9 in the Sports Network poll and No. 10 in the FCS Coaches poll. McNeese State is ranked No. 24 by the Sports Network voters and No. 21 by the coaches. The teams combined for 25 selections on the 2012 preseason All-Southland Conference team.

The Cowboys will be at home this Saturday when the take on Northwestern in Cowboys stadium.  Kick off is at 7 p.m.
