March 10th School Closures

Well we have been waiting two days for the rain to come and this morning it is finally here. Widespread rain, strong winds, lightning and thunderstorms have moved into Southwest Louisiana. A couple parishes have decided to close their schools today.

The forecast today is for 100% chance of rain today and tonight then Friday there is a 90% chance of rain.  Along with that there is a chance of very heavy rains that could cause flash flooding and winds up to 35 mph.

Just North of us, Beauregard and Vernon Parishes have been getting hammered with rain the past two days which has prompted them to close schools today.

UPDATE 7:00 a.m. -- Our Lady Queen of Heaven School and Daycare on Lake Street in Lake Charles closed today due to no power

The latest we have is that Beauregard and Vernon Parish schools will be closed today (Thursday March 10th).

Keep checking back for updates of more school closures and traffic and weather updates.  Be careful out there today.  It looks like today will be our day to deal with the weather.
