LSU’s Leonard Fournette Ties NCAA Bowl Record — Named MVP

The LSU Tigers and their sophomore running back Leonard Fournette went into last night's Texas bowl with a lot to prove.  I think they did that with a convincing win over Texas Tech 56-27. First they needed to prove that it was a smart move by the school to keep Les Miles as the head coach.

Plus they needed to prove to everyone on a primetime stage that the Tigers are for real and not the team everyone saw losing three straight during the season.

Well last night I think all the doubters have been silence especially the voters of the Hiesman trophy when they saw a performance like none other by sophomore running back Leonard Fournette.

Fournette who was a leading contender early in the season wasn't even in the final ballot for the Hiesman trophy nor was he invited to New York for the ceremony.  I believe that put a fire under Leonard because he exploded last night for a career day.

Leonard Fournette rushed for 212 yards and scored five touchdowns in last nights game tieing a NCAA bowl record for most touchdowns by one player in a bowl game.

Leonard Fournette was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Texas Bowl after gaining 256 all-purpose yards. Fournette had touchdown runs of 2, 43, 4 and 2 yards, and he also caught a 44 yard pass for a touchdown which was the first of his career.

The LSU Tigers football program also broke a school record last night. The Tigers has 638 yards of total offense against Texas Tech which is a new LSU football program bowl record. The tigers of LSU finish the 2015 season with a record of 9-3.
