Jim Hawthorne, who has been the “Voice of the Tigers” for 32 years announced back into February that he plans on retiring after the upcoming 2015-2016 LSU men's basketball season.

Since that time, LSU fan's have been wondering who will replace Jim Hawthorne on the microphone and become the main play by play caller for the LSU Tigers sports teams. Well that wait is over LSU Fans because they have announced Jim's replacement.  It will be Chris Blair who comes from Georgia Southern University.

LSU Sports.net is reporting:

 LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva announced Saturday that Chris Blair, currently the "Voice" of Georgia Southern University Athletics, has been named as the next “Voice of the Tigers” beginning with the 2016 LSU baseball season.

Blair, whose title will be Director of Radio Broadcasting, is expected to join the LSU Athletics Department in December 2015. Blair is currently the General Manager and Voice of the Eagles at Georgia Southern Sports Properties.

So Tiger fans, you get to hear Jim Hawthorne just one more football season starting on September 5th, 2015 when LSU takes on the McNeese Cowboys at Tigers stadium to start the season.
