In an effort to keep the roadways safe this holiday season, the Louisiana State Police (LSP) announced that they will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Calcasieu Parish tonight.

With the holidays come Christmas parties.  People will be going to friends, families or company parties and will have a few spirits.  This is the best time to get your plan in place and designate a driver even before you leave for your function.

Sgt. James Anderson with the LSP said,

In an effort to combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop D plans to conduct a DWI checkpoint on Friday, December 2, 2016, weather permitting, from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish.

Our mission will be to detect and arrest impaired drivers before they cause injury or death to themselves or others.

So please be careful this holiday season and always have a designated driver.
