The New Year holiday is here folks and that means New Year's Eve party and people partaking in adult beverages.  Now is the time to have a plan in place for you and your loved ones to get home safe this weekend.

On the other side of the coin though, if you don't have a plan and decide to get behind the wheel, get ready to go home to a jail cell with local law enforcement because they will be out in full force this holiday weekend.

The Louisiana State Police Troop D has announced that they will be conducting a DWI checkpoint somewhere in Calcasieu Parish this Friday night December 30th.

Sgt. James Anderson says:

Louisiana State Police Troop D plans to conduct a seat belt compliance and DWI checkpoint on Friday, December 30, 2016, from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish.

Our mission will be to ticket vehicle occupants who are not properly restrained or who choose not to properly restrain children in the vehicle as well as to remove impaired drivers from the highway before they cause injury or death to themselves or others.

Happy New Years everyone and be safe.
