Leroy Thomas came to the Cajun Radio studios this morning to visit with me, and he rocked our studio!  Leroy played the "Amedee Two Step" for us live in the studio with the assistance of his drummer, Gerard St. Julien Jr. playing the scrub boards.

Wanna see what went on this morning?  Here is your Cajun Radio Backstage Pass!

Leroy Thomas came in the studio around 8:30 a.m. ready to burn up his accordion, and he almost did.

Did you know that Leroy Thomas is related to a couple of Cajun/Zydeco artists you know?  Leroy is related to Keith Frank and Geno Delafose.  They are all cousin but don't ask me to go down the family tree for ya, lol.

This morning we played a few cuts off of his latest CD " Jewel of the Bayou".   Leroy has a bunch of originals on the CD and a few covers including "Promise Land" and Hank Jr's hit "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound".

Then Leroy picked up his accordion and warmed up a bit.  Then it was time for some live music in the Cajun Radio studio which of course we love to bring you!

Leroy decided he would play the "Amedee Two Step" made famous by Amede Ardoin.

Here is a picture of Amedee Ardoin:

So Leroy Thomas had his accordion in hand and his drummer of his band, Gerard St. Julien Jr., grabbed the scrub board and off they went and this is what happened!

Pretty cool huh.  Did you see how fast that accordion was moving?

If you liked that then get ready to see him live this Saturday night at Yesterdays night club in Lake Charles because Leroy and the Zydeco Roadrunners will be there!  Doors open at 8 p.m. and you can dance the night away to some great Cajun French and Zydeco music!

Who would you like to see on the next backstage pass next?  Let me know!  Post it to our Facebook, comment on this story or email me at mikesoileau@townsquaremedia.com
