Social Media was all abuzz last night when folks here in Southwest Louisiana learned that the Lake Arthur Regatta Festival will be no more.

In a letter released by the Board of Directors of the festival's Facebook page, it stated that they have decided to discontinue the 7-year-old festival.

The Board of Directors thanked all of Southwest Louisiana, festival goers, and volunteers for seven great years.  They went on to say that during that time, the money raised helped to fund many projects within the city of Lake Arthur, like boating docks and pavilions in the park.

Unfortunately, the board said that, due to declining attendance, declining profits, and lack of volunteers, they have made the decision to discontinue the festival.

Here is the official letter.
