After LSU's football team appeared in the Music Bowl against Notre Dame on December 30th, 2014, they were informed that their defensive coordinator John Chavis had decided to take the defensive coordinator position at Texas A&M.

Since the news, LSU has been on the search for a new defensive coordinator and last night head coach Les Miles announced that they had found the right candidate.

Kevin Steele, a veteran coach with tremendous success at both the college and NFL level, has been named LSU’s defensive coordinator, head coach Les Miles announced on Tuesday.

Steele comes to LSU from Alabama, where he spent the 2014 season coaching the Crimson Tide linebackers and the 2013 season as director of player personnel. A proven recruiter who helped Alabama sign the nation’s No. 1 class a year ago, Steele has held defensive coordinator positions in the SEC and ACC as well as serving as the head coach at Baylor for four years.
