The 2011 Hurricane Season has officially begun and here are the storm predictions for the upcoming season.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami is predicting that the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season will be busier than normal, with as many as 18 named tropical storms, three to six of them major hurricanes.

» Accuweather.com is calling for an early start to the season, with a tropical disturbance forming in the early days of the season.

» Dr. William Gray at the Colorado State University Department of Atmospheric Science is calling for 16 named storms, of which 9 will be hurricanes and 5 of those major hurricanes.

» In 2010, there were 19 named storms, 12 of which became hurricanes
