If you want to just go walk through the St. Louis No. 1 Cemetery in New Orleans ... You better do it before March. After that the famous New Orleans Cemetery will be off limits to unguided tourist.

A few year back my wife and I searched the famous New Orleans Cemetery for the tomb with the weeping angel that was made famous in prints and paintings. We finally found it but were unable to walk inside due to a locked gate at the doorway. We were told it was locked due to vandalism. I can't understand why someone would vandalize a tomb; and I hope anyone who does get's hit with a special kind of voodoo.

Well it appears that this fix was not enough to stop the vandals at the cemetery that was established in 1789 and supposedly holds the tomb of the famous voodoo priestess Marie Laveau. According to a Yahoo News story ... starting in march visitations to the historic cemetery will be limited to relatives of the deceased, visiting scholars and those with a tour guide registered with the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
