Criminals are about the lowest of the low but when you're a criminal and you steal from children you should get to experience cruel and unusual punishment.

Robert Martin III of Haughton, Louisiana appears to be the kind of guy that would not only steal from you and me but would take the innocence of youth without batting an eye.

Authorities in Haughton say that Martin applied to be a youth baseball coach in one of the town's recreational leagues. He started accepting money for uniforms, equipment, fees, and the like and then took the money and ran.

Lt. Bill Davis with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's office explains that when league officials received Martin's background check they discovered that he had a criminal record. This would prevent him from coaching children in the league. This was also Martin's cue to exit the area and take the money he had collected with him.

"Unfortunately, he had a ruse to take that money and run.  He never planned to be a coach and he ended up with about $3000 in his pockets and out the door."

Lt. Davis comments were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network.

Authorities do believe Martin has left the Haughton area of Bossier Parish. He is currently wanted for felony theft. He has also left a very bad taste in the mouths of many youth baseball parents and fans. Says Lt. Davis,

"We want him to be held accountable for his actions and ultimately go to jail.  $3000 out of some kids pockets, you know, crime is crime but when you do this from children, that's pretty low down."
If you know the whereabouts of Davis, contact your local law enforcement agency or the Bossier Parish Sheriffs department.
