Girl Scouts to Sell Cookies Online — Here’s How to Make Sure Local Troops Get Credit and Keep Money Local
It's the announcement we've all been waiting for -- Girl Scout cookies will now be available for purchase online and delivery straight to your door! Holy moly, son.
I can order my Samoas and my Thin Mints without forcing those poor Girl Scouts to carry case after case of delicious cookies up all the steps to my house? Sign me the heck up, boy!
We talked to the Girl Scouts Bayou Council, who told us that online sales will be available in Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana this year. Cookies will see their first deliveries on February 27, 2015, so get your tastebuds warmed up.
Now, you'll still have to get in contact with a Girl Scout to initiate the sale. Basically, you'll get an invite to a digital order form.
But the greatest news is that Digital Cookie -- their new ordering program -- lets you choose the Girl Scout council you want to support. That means you can make sure your money stays in Southwest Louisiana. Or, if you prefer, you can choose another area to support -- maybe you have a Girl Scout in your family that lives in another part of the country, and you want to help them raise money. Now you can do that and still get your cookies delivered to your doorstep.
You can sign up for cookie email updates, and you can even download a smartphone app that shows you where nearby sales are happening, in case you can't wait on your Do-si-dos.
Girl Scout cookies have gone digital, y'all. Things will never be the same.
