Mardi Gras is exactly two weeks away everybody and with Mardi Gras comes balls, parades and parties. And it most instances it involves drinking alcohol.

The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) has announced that they will once again have a family friendly Alcohol-Free Mardi Gras Zone this year for kids, tweens and teens.

This is the 9th year for the event. It provides an alcohol and tobacco free Mardi Gras option and will take place on Tuesday, February 28th from Noon to 4:00pm.

It will be located in the empty parking lot between the Charleston Building and the Parish Courthouse on Ryan Street.

Julie Fay with the CPPJ said:

In “The Zone” the good times roll with a live D.J., laser tag, bounce houses, train rides, face painting and a game truck! Kids can snack on pizza, popcorn, sno cones, Coca Cola and cotton candy during all the fun. “The Zone” is designed to offer a safe, fun environment for the community’s youth to experience during the Mardi Gras revelry.
