Additional Information

Exciting things are happening at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, according to Lenn Knapp, Habitat for Humanity:Calcasieu Area Inc.’s executive director.

The store will soon open at its new location, 3960 Gerstner Memorial Blvd. – across from Fairview Elementary School -- but right now, Habitat officials are asking local residents and businesses to help by donating new or gently-used items to help fill the 12,000-square-foot facility.

Items Habitat officials are looking for include furniture, appliances, building materials, home décor, cabinets, electrical and plumbing fixtures and supplies, doors, tools, hardware, flooring and overstock, closeout and discontinued merchandise.

Residents can drop off items from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday at the new facility. For larger donations, call ReStore at 310-1771 for pick-up.

Additionally, Habitat ReStore will offer residents an opportunity to be the first to shop at the new store during a special “sneak peek” event from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 2. By paying a $10 entry fee, residents can shop at the store before its doors open to the public.

All proceeds from the sneak peek event will help fund the building of future Habitat homes, Knapp said.

Habitat ReStore’s official grand opening will take place 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 10. There will be a short presentation at 9 a.m., followed by food, refreshments, activities and of course, shopping.

ReStore’s regular hours will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays.

Habitat ReStore helps fund Habitat for Humanity: Calcasieu Area Inc.’s overall mission of making sure every resident has a safe and decent place to live, Knapp said.
