On the heels of a Championship Game being played tonight for the Cowgirls, the Mcneese Mens team punched there ticket to the final as well last night and will play for a chance at a birth in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

McNeese State's Cowboys rolled into the State Farm Southland Conference 2011 basketball tournament finals with a 91-83 victory over Texas State on Thursday.

The Cowboys will meet up with Texas-San Antonio in the finals which will be held at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday in Merrell Center in Katy, TX. ESPNU will televise the matchup live. The winner of the game will receive the league's automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.

Five players scored in double figures for the Cowboys whose record went to 21-10. P. J. Alawoya led the way with 18 points and he was followed by Diego Kapelan with 17, Patrick Richard and C. J. Collins with 16 each and Daniel Richard with 11.

"It's been very hard to beat us when we have five players scoring in double figures," noted McNeese head coach Dave Simmons.

In fact, the Cowboys have been undefeated this season when five players have scored in double figures and they have posted an 11-2 mark when four or more players have scored points in double figures in the same game.
