Two Boat Parades Set Sail Saturday

Two water events will take place at the Civic Center Seawall on Saturday, May 7. The “Show Your Dingy Parade” will set sail at 3 p.m. and the “The Contraband Days Big Boat Parade” will begin at 6 p.m. The Big Boat Parade was rescheduled from last Saturday due to wind conditions.

Captains of all seaworthy vessels of all sizes are encouraged to decorate in the theme of their choice. Spectators are invited to join the fun as the parades of decorated boats pass by the Civic Center seawall. The dinghy captains will receive prizes and free t-shirts courtesy of DuLac Realty, Olmsted Shipyard, West Marine, and Dupont Sewer. Big boat captains will receive prizes courtesy of Raising Cane’s.

Commander Trish Garber of the Lake Charles Sail & Power Squadron said “We want boaters of all types of watercraft to have the opportunity to join the festivities.”

For registration or more information contact Kathy Venable at 337-526-9330 or kathy@dulacrealty.com or info@lcpsonline.org. For a complete schedule of Contraband Days events visit www.contrabanddays.com.

The boat parades are a great time.  Its like a Mardi Gras/Pirate parade where they will throw you stuff.  Make plans to go see them then come into the Civic Center for the Cajun Radio Concert with TK Hulin/GG Shinn & Jamie Bergeron!!!!
