Happy 4th of July Everyone!!!  The City Of Lake Charles Red, White, Blue & You celebration is taking place Monday in downtown Lake Charles on the Civic Center grounds and here is the lineup of events:

The City of Lake Charles is making plans for the 19th annual Red White Blue & You Celebration. As part of the home-spun celebration, participants and spectators are invited to join in the fun for the ball, parade, pies, concerts and fireworks.

On Monday, July 4th at 6 p.m., the street parade will roll from Mill Street heading south on Ryan, left on Broad, right on Bilbo, right on Pujo, concluding at the intersection of Pujo and Lakeshore Drive. Anyone who would like to parade their love of country is invited to decorate their floats, vehicles, golf carts, bicycles, marching units, etc.

The celebration continues at the Lake Charles Civic Center Arcade Pavilion with concessions and a patriotic program beginning at 7 p.m. with the sounds of the Westlake High School Jazz Combo. The Lake Charles Community Band and conductor Leo Murray will also take the stage featuring a salute to the U.S. Armed Forces and a sing-a-long with the Louisiana Choral Foundation and friends. Audience members are encouraged to bring their blankets or lawn chairs and wave their complimentary flags. Festival t-shirts will be on sale for $7. If inclement weather prevails, the program will be moved to the Civic Center Coliseum. The fireworks extravaganza will begin at 9:15 p.m. Tune into Fun Radio 92.9 FM for the soundtrack simulcast.

Bakers are invited to participate in the Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest. Simply bring your baked apple pie to the 1911 Historic City Hall at 1001 Ryan Street on Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Judging will take place later that afternoon and winners will be announced on stage during the program on Monday, July 4. Prizes will be awarded for first place, blue ribbon and $100; 2nd place, red ribbon and $75; 3rd place, white ribbon and $50. Pies will not be refrigerated prior to the contest so please omit whipping cream, frozen toppings, cream cheese, custards, etc.

Red White Blue & You has been voted one of the "Top 20 Events" among 11 states for the month of July by the Southeast Tourism Society which promotes travel to and within the Southeastern part of the United States.
