Check Out This Vintage Video of New Orleans’ Mardi Gras from 1954 [VIDEO]
Over on NOLA.com, The Times Picayune's website, a reader shared a really cool home video that his uncle filmed back in 1954.
You'd be shocked at how little has changed from those times. The only real difference from then to today are all the old shop signs you can see in the background on Canal Street. And maybe a few hairstyles. And definitely the cars.
And some strange guys dressed up like snowmen. I'm not sure what on earth that is all about. And a few other inexplicable things, like weird baskets with swastikas on them. Yeah, this is a really weird video.
The video was provided to NOLA.com by Stephen Elmer of Slidell, who was only two years old when the film was shot.
