Starting Monday, March 7th, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury wants area contractors and citizens to know they can get parish permits at a new location on 901 Lakeshore Drive. The Division of Planning & Development has a new home to create a one-stop-shop for area residents.  The new location is now on the fifth floor, as part of a parish initiative to unite permit offices for all projects in unincorporated areas of Calcasieu.

Even better, once construction on the fourth floor of 901 Lakeshore is complete in a few months, area citizens will also be able to obtain permits from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals in one convenient location as well.

Planning & Development Director Wes Crain, explain the improvements saying, “This is a chance for us at the parish to be responsive to the needs of our citizens,” he continued. “The ability for contractors and other citizens to have a “one-stop shop” for all permits is a benefit we are pleased to offer our residents.”
Please note parking is confusing.  Instructions are as follows:
Parish officials report the primary parking location is the lot on the West side of the 901 Lakeshore building.  There are parking spaces allowing customers to park for one hour. In addition, drivers approaching the 901 building from the South will make a right turn into the West lot from Lakeshore Drive.
Drivers should also be aware that if approaching from the East or North of the building, there's no access to the West lot and should use the lot on the East.  Traveling from the North on Lakeshore, residents are to make a left on Kirby and another left on Pithon and turn right to enter the lot.  One-hour customer parking is available along Pithon Street.   Finally, drivers approaching from the East can enter the lot from Ryan street.
