“Our hearts are heavy this morning with the passing of Randy,” says Sheriff Tony Mancuso.  “He was a great asset to our department and will be sorely missed.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time.”

Louisiana State Police is investigating the accident.

On a personal note, I worked for the Sheriff’s Office for 10 years.  I had a chance to work with Randy and to know him.  This past December, I was the DJ at the Sheriff’s Office Christmas party.  I was on stage and Randy came up on stage to say hi and we got to visit with each other for a little while and I am so glad we did.

My sympathy’s go out out to his wife and family.  When you are or were a police officer, it’s like a brotherhood and today we lost one of our brothers.
